Wollongong Studio Kids & Teen Classes 2022

Ballet


8-12 years Tuesday 5:30-6:30pm

13-17 years Advanced* Friday 5:30-6:30pm (5:30-7pm for Pointe students)

13-17 years Beginner* Monday 8-9pm (Beginners with Pointe preparation)

*These classes will only be split into beginner/ advanced if there are enough students enrolled in each.

Ballet classes for children under 8 years are available through our Monkey Movers Program.


Ballet is a fundamental dance style, with a flowing yet structured feel – there is an emphasis on safe dance practice and technique. It is extremely graceful and students enjoy the feeling that comes from dancing ballet! At Miss Zoe’s we do not do exams, rather we focus on teaching technique and choreography in a fun, yet challenging manner.

Contemporary/Lyrical


8-12 years Monday 5-6pm

13-17 years Friday 7-8pm

Contemporary/lyrical classes for children under 8 years are available through our Monkey Movers Program.


Our contemporary classes are suitable for beginner and experienced dancers. These classes are a combination of modern/lyrical and contemporary dance and contain both soft and strong movements with an expressive feel. Students are encouraged to express themselves through movement in a safe and non-judgmental environment.

Jazz


8-12 years Tuesday 6:30-7:30pm

13-17 years Advanced* Monday 7-8pm

13-17 years Beginner* Monday 7-8pm

Jazz classes for children under 8 years are available through our Monkey Movers Program.


Jazz is a popular style of dance and at Miss Zoe’s we focus on a balance of technique, style, and performance skills. These fun, upbeat classes make use of both popular and traditional jazz songs with a focus on age-appropriate music, costuming, and choreography choices.

Broadway Jazz


13+ years Friday 8:00pm-9:00pm (This class is also an Adult Class)


Our Broadway Jazz class will focus on classic-style jazz that you would see in older movies and onstage in musicals – think jazz hands and lots of flair! The class will be open to teenagers and adults who want to experience a different style of jazz. All abilities are welcome!

Hip Hop


8-12 years Thursday 4:30-5:30pm
Boys Only (5+yrs) Thursday 4:30-5:30pm

13-17 years Monday 8-9pm

Hip Hop classes for children under 8 years are available through our Monkey Movers Program.


Hip Hop is a popular style of dance with lots of attitude and at Miss Zoe’s we focus on learning hip hop technique, style, and performance skills. These fun, upbeat classes make use of popular hip hop songs with a focus on age-appropriate music, lyrics, costuming, and choreography choices. These high-energy, physical classes are great for boys!


Tap


5-12 years Saturday 10:45-11:30am

13+ years Wednesday 8-9pm (this class is also an Adult Class)


Tap at Miss Zoe’s is fun, upbeat, and current – students can make as much noise as they want! Students will learn tap technique with no pressure of exams. Tap is great to help train the brain and make mind-body connections that will last a lifetime!

Irish


5-12 years Wednesday 4:30-5:30pm

13+ years Wednesday 5:30-6:30pm (This class is also an Adult Class)


Irish Dancing is a diverse and energetic dance form accompanied by lively traditional music. This class will teach the basic techniques and traditional dance steps of Irish dancing in the CLRG Style. Students will learn different traditional dances such as the Jig, Reel, Slipjig, Single-jig, Treble jig and Basic Hornpipe, as well as a range of Ceili (team) dances. There will be a focus on developing their technique through fun and energetic exercises, as well as timing and musicality. Performance technique and confidence will be developed throughout the year.


Acrobatics

5-10 years Thursday 5:30-6:30pm

10-17 years Thursday 6:00-7:00pm

Acrobatics classes for children under 5 years are available through our Monkey Movers Program.


These fun, physical classes will teach a variety of acrobatic skills in a safe and encouraging environment – from rolls, handstands, cartwheels, & walkovers to lifts (dependent on current COVID restrictions), balances and strength training. There is a big emphasis on group work and learning as a team.

Musical Theatre


5-10 years Thursday 3:30-4:30pm

10-17 years Friday 4:30-5:30pm


Our Musical Theatre classes focus on a balance of dance, drama, and singing. Students will learn the basics of these three performance styles and will come together as a group to produce short items for performances. Students are at no times pressured to perform by themselves – it is all about them having fun in a happy and pressure-free environment.

Singing


5+ years Wednesday 4:15-5pm


This open aged class will focus on singing technique and performance. Students will be excited to express themselves through singing and learn correct warm-ups, breathing, technique, annunciation, and performance skills. Students are at no times pressured to perform by themselves – it is all about them having fun in a happy and pressure-free environment.

Yoga


13+ years

Tuesday 9:45-10:30am (This class is also an Adult Class)

Friday 5:30-6:30pm (This class is also an Adult Class)


Yoga is a gentle way to improve your posture, balance, and coordination. Our classes combine physical exercise, breath control, and relaxation aimed at developing harmony in the body, mind, and environment. Hatha Yoga at Miss Zoe’s is suitable for beginners and will take you through the basic sequences and common Yoga poses.

NOTE: When possible please bring your own Yoga mat to class


Fitness


13 + years Wednesday 6:30pm-7:15pm (this class is also an Adult Class)


This fun stretch & fitness class will be a combination of stretching, toning exercises, agility training, and simple strength training with and without the use of weights. There is a big focus on core strength and stability and students will increase their fitness levels through differing exercises every week. Students of all fitness levels are welcome as everyone works at their own ability throughout the class.
